In this chapter, Allen goes on to share a story about her experience with spiritual warfare. For example: the thought, “I am not good enough.” This lie reflects, “I’m worthless.” The book is divided into three sections: “All The Thoughts”, “Taking Down The Enemies Of Our Minds”, “Thinking As Jesus Thinks.”Ĭhapter two is about the “lies we believe.” All lies will reflect one of the three lies given. I am not a passive person letting any thought that drifts in my head build a nest. “I have a choice” of what to think about. The profound words that I often tell myself (from the book) is “I have a choice.” Throughout the book I took notes, underlined, and starred portions of it. ![]() It’s a book that is strong in teaching, but very strong in application. ![]() I’d only read a few pages of this book, and began texting several friends and family members telling them, “you have to read this book!” This book is not an alternative to not taking medication for anxiety or depression. This book is about understanding the seriousness of the battle, the origins, the reasons, and what can be done to change. Jennie Allen believes the greatest spiritual battle we have takes place in our minds. Because how we think shapes how we live.”. “Learning to capture our thoughts matters. ![]() Jennie Allen’s bio and list of books at Goodreads. ![]()

I have a long-standing friend who tells me that my optimism is misplaced if I think that local politics can fix the current mess. Sadly, there have also been lows, like the 158 people that have been murdered, the growing polarisation of politics and the collapse of the Northern Ireland Assembly. There have been undoubted highs, like the IRA decommissioning their weapons, Sinn Fein signing up to Policing and age old adversaries sharing power. Throughout the 25 years I have tried to remain optimistic. On the 25th anniversary of their deaths I can’t help but think back to the horror of that week and the lives that were lost but today I also want to think about the hope that emerged from the bloodlust and to ponder where it went and more importantly when will it be back. My wife Sharon and her dad Desmond were amongst the dead on that terrible day on the Shankill Road. The killing started with the Shankill Bomb on the Saturday and there were other killings during the week, before concluding with the Greysteel Massacre on the following Saturday. The week from the 23rd to the 30th October 1993 saw twenty four people lose their lives in one of the bloodiest weeks of the ‘Troubles’. ![]() 6/24/2023 0 Comments Onley james unhinged![]() ![]() ![]() But he refuses to let Noah go, and Noah's not sure he wants him to. Taking into account this fixation on black visibility, Nicole R. "Troubling Vision" bridges the gap between these divergent approaches, arguing that grasping the cultural meaning of blackness relies on understanding both performance and vision. Fleetwood explores how blackness is always a troubling presence in the field of vision and the black body is persistently seen as a problem. Over the course of the twentieth century, as black visibility rose across a variety of media, scholars in art history and media studies began to analyze how audiences view black subjects, while performance and theater studies scholars examined black self-presentation. The intense controversy that erupted testifies to the enduring power of images of black bodies to unsettle and disturb viewers. Tariffs have since been reduced by repeated international agreements, but they remain high, probably higher than in the nineteenth century, though the vast changes in the kinds of items entering international trade make a precise comparison impossible. The United States had tariffs throughout the nineteenth century, and they were raised still higher in the twentieth century, especially by the Smoot-Hawley tariff bill of 1930, which some scholars regard as partly responsible for the severity of the subsequent depression. The only major exceptions are nearly a century of free trade in Great Britain after the repeal of the Corn Laws in 1846, thirty years of free trade in Japan after the Meiji Restoration, and free trade in Hong Kong under British rule. Ever since Adam Smith there has been virtual unanimity among economists, whatever their ideological position on other issues, that international free trade is in the best interests of trading countries and of the world. Economists often do disagree, but that has not been true with respect to international trade. ![]() It is often said that bad economic policy reflects disagreement among the experts that if all economists gave the same advice, economic policy would be good. ![]() ![]()
